About the NCPHA Social Work Section
The purpose of the NCPHA-Social Work Section is to provide social workers in Public Health a medium for input within a multidisciplinary organization regarding issues related to public health. In order to fulfill the health needs of individuals, it is crucial that all systems be explored fully. This requires the collaboration of an interdisciplinary team with priorities placed appropriately.
From the platform of the Section, public health social workers gain valuable information and can impact on changes relating to public health issues. The Section allows for networking with other disciplines and organizations. Additionally, the Section provides discipline specific training as well as opportunities to participate in or experience training pertinent to public health presented by other professional groups.
The Section is subject to the by-laws and practices of the larger NCPHA organization and is largely comprised of social workers in local health departments, CDSAs and regional offices. Membership is open to all interested social workers.
The Section is involved in many activities, which you should find stimulating, informative and/or helpful. We hope that you will join in making our Section a viable contributor in the field of public health social work.
